ABOUT ME

A unique career

I started my career journey in the hospitality sector as a bar person at my local local pub at the age of 18. My career journey that led me to becoming an operations specialist for one of the largest Quick Service Restaurant [QSR] brands in the world has seen me learn, exceed and progress through a variety of roles; Retail Auditor, Learning & Development Manger, Area Manager, a Regional Manager, Head of Operations and Operations Director.

I have worked across international and national markets, franchise and equity systems, public and private equity companies, and with over 20 brands in pubs, pub restaurants, hotels, grab and go, and in QSR sectors.

I have the gift of neurodivergence which enables me to to arrive at solutions and big picture strategies which, when coupled with my work experience, allows me to visualise the individual jigsaw pieces that make up that big picture; the systems, processes and behavioural wraps that are required to deliver the strategy, the data points to track and what/when any of the jigsaw pieces need changing or tweaking to deliver world class performance outcomes.

You can review my career on my Linkedin profile

ABOUT ME

At home

I am a husband, dad and volunteer.

I love: being outside in any weather [so long as I the right clothes on], rivers, seas and beaches, music [in particular live gigs], the colour orange, reading, history, watching and playing sport, keeping fit, banoffee pie, making homebrew and woodwork.

I dislike: sitting still [enforced inertia], seafood, not doing something properly [do it well, or don't do it at all] and mess and/or disorganisation

ABOUT ME

At work

If I am working with you and your team, you can expect out-of-the-box thinking and personalised solutions that cater specifically to your requirements. Experience the power of creativity and strategic insight, combined with world class execution, working hand-in-hand for your business success.

My Descriptors: Looking back over my career, and having asked my teams to describe me in a few words on numerous occasions, the following words are often quoted: Strategic, Consistent, Creative, Quality Driven, Analytical, Engaging, Tenacious and Fun.

My Strengths: Having taken Tom Rath's STRENGTH FINDER 2.0. my strengths are: Strategic, Learner, Achiever, Input and Connectiveness

My Philosophy: The Heathcote Operations logo is a sailboat called 'Mutare Velo' which is Latin to for "change [or adjust] the sails". The choice of logo and naming is not only a reflection of my love of the sea but also my philosophy, which is summed up in one of my favourite quotes:

"The pessimist complains about the wind. The optimist expects it to change. The realist [leader] adjusts the sailsby William Ward, with John Maxwell later swapping 'realist' for leader
